Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was removed from a road game against the Oakland A’s on Thursday night after he fouled a ball off his shin during an at-bat in the sixth inning, but it is not expected to keep him out of the lineup.
Per Adrian Garro of MLB.com, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said after the team’s win that Cabrera is expected to play Friday.
“I know he wants to play, so we got ice on him as soon as possible,” said Hinch.
Bally Sports Detroit, which was broadcasting the game, reported there were no signs of a fracture and that Cabrera would be reevaluated after the game.

Andre Lipcius replaced Cabrera as designated hitter
Cabrera, 40, announced before the season that this would be his final year in the major leagues.
The Tigers finish the season next week with six home games, which would allow Cabrera to complete his legendary career in Detroit, assuming he is healthy.
Cabrera is a 12-time all-star, a four-time American League batting champ and two-time AL MVP.
Last year, Cabrera became the 33rd player in MLB history to join the 3,000-hit club.
