Ron DeSantis had raised more than $100 million and earlier this year was just single-digits behind Donald Trump in the national polling averages. Nikki Haley and Tim Scott seemed like solid alternatives to the crazy Trump years. Chris Christie was committed to a negative campaign taking out Trump.
