John Collins is saying goodbye to the Atlanta Hawks and its fanbase.

Collins is about to make a new name for himself with the Utah Jazz but couldn’t leave Georgia without a heartfelt message.

On Instagram, via ClutchPoints, Collins said that leaving the Hawks “definitely stung” but thanked everyone for their support.

He also mentioned that his growth was “being stunted” in Atlanta and that it was “this hawks time to fly away from the nest.”

It sounds like Collins is definitely a little hurt by his trade to the Jazz but is looking to make the best of it.

During his six years with the Hawks, Collins averaged 15.8 points and 8 rebounds on 55.1% from the floor.

His numbers dipped last season and rumors of him being traded were popping up all year long.

It is undeniable that the Hawks need to make some changes because things simply aren’t working out as expected.

Even with players like Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela, and Collins, the team still only made the eighth seed in the East and had a very minor presence in the playoffs.

This isn’t what fans or the front office wanted.

Collins will now play for the Jazz, a team filled with young players who are looking to prove themselves.

The team started last season with a bang but eventually fizzled out.

But with all of the youthful up-and-comers on the roster, as well as a slew of upcoming draft picks, the future could be bright for the Jazz.

Therefore, Collins might by flying from the Hawks to the Jazz at the exact right time.
