Anthony Richardson, the Colts’ star rookie quarterback, left Sunday’s game against Houston with a concussion sustained while scoring his second rushing touchdown of the first quarter.
Following a strip-sack of Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, Richardson ran the next play 15 yards to the house, but took a big hit from safety M.J. Steward as he crossed the goal line.
Richardson popped up from the play celebrating and stayed on the field for the rest of the quarter. However, early in the second quarter, last year’s fourth-overall pick went to the medical tent and eventually the locker room for further evaluation.
Replays of the touchdown run show that Richardson’s head whipped back into the field as he landed on his back.
The touchdown put the Colts up 14-0 less than six minutes into the game. Backup Gardner Minshew replaced Richardson and led the Colts to a touchdown on his first drive.
