The biggest market in professional sports in the United States is New York City, with Los Angeles in second place.

Although New York has had the biggest market for quite some time, the New York Knicks haven’t had a lot of success over the years, with the storied franchise only having two NBA titles to its credit, which is a far cry from the Los Angeles Lakers who have a league-leading 17 titles, a distinction they share with the Boston Celtics.

Despite the Knicks’ shortcomings as a franchise in the Big Apple, Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers believes that if a team in the NBA is going to be called “America’s Team” like the Dallas Cowboys are in the NFL, it should be the Knicks.

Turner thinks so strongly about this that he believes there’s no other team in the league that even comes close to being called “America’s Team,” as he said on the “Run Your Race” podcast via Tidal League and Legion Hoops.

This is actually an interesting debate in the NBA that doesn’t get talked about all that much but possibly should get some more conversation, as there’s bound to be other players around the league with different opinions on the subject, especially those that play for the Lakers or on the West Coast.

As for the Knicks, the value of the franchise is still the most in the league, and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon, as New York is always on top of the list in that category whether the team is thriving on the court or not.
