The New England Patriots hosted the Philadelphia Eagles for their 2023 home opener.
While this game was filled with the typical fanfare of an opening game, another event drove fan engagement.
At halftime, the team recognized Tom Brady’s contributions to their organization, retiring his number.
In honor of this event, Brady posted a photo on Twitter of his six Super Bowl trophies that are proudly displayed at the stadium.

Brady means a lot to the organization and Patriots fanbase.
He was a staple of this team for so many years, and the success he brought to this team will not soon be forgotten.
Brady had to retire sometime, and this ceremony reminded fans that he’s not around to save them anymore.
Brady’s homecoming was spoiled during the game, as the Patriots fell 25-20.
Mac Jones finished the game with 316 yards and three touchdowns, adding an interception in his season debut.
Many fans and analysts were pleased with Jones’ performance in the loss, showing he can put up big numbers.
The Eagles were one of the NFL’s top teams last year, and their defense ultimately proved too big of an obstacle for Jones to overcome in this one.
With any luck, the Patriots will get back on track next week against the red-hot Miami Dolphins.
Can Jones do enough this season to save his job and lead the Patriots back to the playoffs?
