The NFC is widely considered to be the weaker conference in the NFL this season, with only a handful of teams expected to be legitimate title contenders during the 2023 campaign.

After Sunday’s games, it became clear that the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys are, without a doubt, the top two teams in the conference, with these storied franchises set to see which one is the better of the two in Week 5 in the Bay Area.

Until these two heavyweights go head-to-head in a few weeks, the debate will rage on about which team is superior after impressive performances in Week 1.

Of course, Skip Bayless of FOX Sports had to chime in on the topic on “Undisputed” on Monday, as he believes, unsurprisingly, that the Cowboys are the better of the two teams right now with the defense leading the way.

Bayless may very well have a point when it comes to the defense, as Dallas seems to be elite and a step above every other team in that category, with star linebacker Micah Parsons potentially going on to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year this season.

However, the 49ers definitely have the edge offensively, even with second-year quarterback Brock Purdy under center, with the team firing on all cylinders on that side of the football against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A case could be made that the 49ers are the better all-around team right now, but Dallas has the edge on defense after putting on a clinic against the New York Giants in Week 1.
