The primary concern for the San Francisco 49ers over the past few weeks was getting a contract extension done with superstar defensive end Nick Bosa, who is arguably the best defensive player in the NFL right now.

Bosa and his representation were determined to get a deal done before Week 1, or they would’ve kept the holdout going in the same way that star defensive tackle Chris Jones has with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even though contract talks went a lot longer than anticipated, resulting in Bosa missing all of training camp and preseason, the 49ers and Bosa were finally able to come to terms on a new deal a few days before the season got underway.

Although it always seemed inevitable that Bosa would sign a historic contract extension with the team, some teams around the league were starting to smell blood in the water in the Bay Area.

According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, five teams reached out to the 49ers to see if the team would trade Bosa via FOX Sports: NFL.

With Bosa being arguably the league’s elite defensive end, the 49ers had no intentions of trading him, as he is the heart and soul of the defense in San Francisco.

Obviously, that didn’t stop teams from at least trying to kick the tires on a potential blockbuster trade.

However, now Bosa is back in the fold with the 49ers and is a very wealthy man, with the team inking him to a five-year deal worth $170 million with $88 million guaranteed.
