To say that the New York Giants weren’t at their best in the season opener would be a huge understatement.

They were down 16-0 almost out of the gate, and were simply unable to turn the corner to try and get back into the game.

That’s why NFL analyst Craig Carton went as far as to say that they just gave up, adding that they had plenty of time to try and come back and they just didn’t.

Per Carton, this didn’t look like the same resilient team that coach Brian Daboll took over last season, and he’s right.

Daboll helped turn the culture around in the Big Apple almost out of the gate, and the Giants fought hard to get back into games they should’ve lost.

The Giants even managed to win a playoff game on the road against a Vikings team that had won plenty of games throughout the course of the regular season, and they looked to build on that momentum this season.

Of course, we should never overreact after just one game, and it’s safe to say that the Cowboys have one of the best defenses in the league and have dominated Daniel Jones throughout the course of his entire career, but still.

It wasn’t a matter of them losing or even being down big numbers.

It was just that the team didn’t look ready to play at all, and they seemed way over their heads as soon as the Cowboys returned that field goal attempt for a touchdown in the first quarter.
