The Baltimore Ravens are considered by many people to be a dark-horse contender in the AFC this season, and there are a few who even think they have a real shot at reaching the Super Bowl.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson’s future has been settled by virtue of his new five-year, $260 million contract, and the team has brought in wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers.

Unfortunately, Beckham suffered an ankle injury, and as a result, he is now on the Ravens’ injury report.

The last thing Beckham needs these days is yet another injury that will prevent him from getting onto the field.

He hasn’t played in an official game since Super Bowl LVI when, as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, he suffered a torn ACL.

It was his second such injury, with the first coming during the 2020 season when he was with the Cleveland Browns.

It’s easy to forget these days that Beckham was once a top-flight wide receiver with the New York Giants who went over 1,300 receiving yards and got named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three pro seasons.

He may not need to return to that level of production, but if the Ravens are to reach expectations, he will need to stay healthy and at least have spurts during which he approaches his former level of play.

Beckham will be aided by tight end Mark Andrews, one of the best in the game at his position, as well as by a defense that allowed the third-fewest points in the NFL last year.
