Chicago Bears star Justin Fields just got his first win of the season, and he hasn’t even taken the gridiron yet.

Reebok recently announced the signing of the 24-year-old to a very lucrative deal.

The long-term partnership represents Reebok’s new attempt to enter the football scene and re-establish a strong presence in the sports industry.

According to Complex, this partnership had been months in the making, as the apparel giant got in contact with Fields back in February.

Nonetheless, they go way back, as Fields admitted that he wore signature sneakers for both Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson, so he was no stranger to them.

Also, Reebok used to be the official apparel licensee for the league, owning the industry for a decade, between 2002 and 2012.

Even so, it’s safe today that it’s been more than a while since Reebok was a big player in the football footwear scene, partly due to being owned by Adidas.

But now that the German brand has sold the company to ABG, they’re trying to take back what was theirs.

As for Fields, plenty of analysts are expecting a major leap forward in his third season.

He showed glimpses of great play in his sophomore campaign, looking like the best second-year quarterback during stretches, even despite his team’s struggles.

The Bears went to great lengths to surround him with talent and revamp their offensive line ahead of this campaign.

Now, it’ll be up to him to prove that he can be one of the faces of the league for years to come.
