The Denver Broncos are coming off a disastrous 2022 NFL season in which the team clearly made the wrong decision to make Nathaniel Hackett its head coach.
After getting a ton of buzz to be a potential Super Bowl title contender in the AFC following the blockbuster trade to acquire Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos fell flat and failed miserably to live up to expectations.
In order to turn things around quickly, the Broncos brought in Sean Payton to be Hackett’s successor, with the team believing the one-time Super Bowl champion head coach might be the missing piece to the puzzle in Denver and the right coach to get Wilson back on track.
Although Payton seemingly has a lot of support that he will get the Broncos back on track, it remains to be seen if he can pull it off, but Peter Schrager seems confident and thinks the NFL Coach of the Year could be in Denver this season.

Even if Payton doesn’t lead the Broncos to the Super Bowl or anywhere near it, there’s a chance that he is a good bet to win the regular-season award, as all he has to do is get this team back in playoff contention while also making Wilson look like a star quarterback once again.
It will still be no easy task for Payton to pull all of this off, as the pressure will be on in Denver, but if he can get it done, the Broncos newcomer could get the Coach of the Year nod.
