Over the last few years, the Cincinnati Bengals have been a football team in the NFL that seems to get better and better with higher expectations every year.
The main reason for these high expectations is the fact the team has a bona fide superstar under center in the form of quarterback Joe Burrow, who has far exceeded expectations since coming into the league.
Unfortunately, Burrow recently injured his calf in training camp, which has put a damper on the upcoming season because it remains uncertain when he’ll be able to return.
Along with Burrow’s status being up in the air, the Bengals are currently in contract negotiations with the superstar and will almost certainly agree upon a deal that resets the market for quarterbacks.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes that these contract talks, which are surprisingly not done yet, have added more pressure on the team moving forward, via “First Things First.”

Burrow signing a massive contract that makes him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL is inevitable, even though he’s dealing with a concerning calf injury with Week 1 rapidly approaching.
The pressure is not on the Bengals heading this season because they aren’t the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills, who both will have tremendous pressure this year to win it all.
The Bengals are still a team on the rise and will be given a little bit more space to prove themselves rather than the two previous teams mentioned, so Cincinnati having the most pressure right now seems to be a bit of a stretch.
