For weeks now, many NBA fans have thought that Team Canada could have a chance of winning it all in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
They had their first game on Friday morning and came away with a resounding victory, beating France, 95-65.
At the center of it all was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 27 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists.
He was scoring from all over the court, including from the logo at the center of it.

Others were a bit upset that they didn’t see more of fellow Canadian star RJ Barrett.
But with a 30-point win, the coaching choices won’t be questioned too much.
How come they’re not playing RJ Barrett?

This is a long tournament and Canada has many opponents that they will need to take down in order to win it all.
But they have definitely gotten off to a wonderful start and there is every reason to believe they are one of the best teams in the World Cup.
Scoring 27 points in a game is nothing new for the Oklahoma City Thunder star.
In 2022-23, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.4 points and 5.5 assists per game on 51% from the field.
Does this mean he is only getting warmed up in the World Cup?
