The new era of Green Bay Packers football is nearly here as Jordan Love is locked and loaded as the team’s starting quarterback for Week 1.
Love spent the past few seasons developing behind Aaron Rodgers, but with the veteran now with the New York Jets, the former first-round pick has a chance to show the franchise that he deserves to lead the team.
So far in his career, Love has only appeared in 10 games with his lone start coming in 2021.
Without much game experience, it’s hard to project what Love will look like during the regular season, though he has looked good in the preseason so far.
However, the Packers did see a glimpse of what the young signal-caller could do last year when he took over for Rodgers late in their game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Love managed to complete six of his nine passes for 113 yards and one touchdown, leading Eagles veteran Darius Slay to believe Green Bay’s future looks bright, via an appearance on Pat McAfee’s show.
“I think Green Bay has a great QB in their hands with Jordan Love,” Slay said.

Slay and the Eagles wound up beating the Packers by a final of 40-33 in that game, but he apparently saw enough from Love to give him such praise.
As a passer, Love’s got a good arm and is able to connect with receivers in the intermediate and deep areas of the field.
Those traits will serve him well under Matt LaFleur and it’ll be exciting to see what he can do this season.
