The San Francisco 49ers have dealt with injuries to several of their starting quarterbacks over the years, though they’re hoping the 2023 season is different.

Trey Lance began the 2022 campaign as the starter but only managed to play in two games after suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

Jimmy Garoppolo took over the reins with Lance on the mend, but he eventually went down with a broken foot in December that propelled then-rookie Brock Purdy to the top of the depth chart.

While expectations were low for the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy became a sensation after he managed to lead San Francisco all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

Unfortunately, Purdy was unable to avoid the injury bug as he suffered an elbow injury on the first drive of the game and was unable to return.

However, Purdy is healthy entering 2023 and sports analysts like Chris Broussard believe he can take San Francisco back to the Super Bowl and even make his first Pro Bowl via First Things First.

If Purdy didn’t get hurt in the playoffs, then the 49ers could have very well made Super Bowl LVII.

The talent on the roster on both sides is there for San Francisco to make another deep playoff run, but Purdy making the Pro Bowl seems far-fetched.

However, with how weak the NFC looks the 49ers should be considered one of the favorites to represent the conference in Super Bowl LVIII.
