Baltimore Orioles owner John Angelos told The New York Times that team broadcaster Kevin Brown shouldn’t have been suspended for his seemingly innocuous comments about the club.
“Nothing like that is going to happen again,” he told The New York Times in a story published Monday. “It shouldn’t have happened once.”
Angelos, who rarely speaks to the media, added to the Times that the Orioles organization is reviewing the process that resulted in Brown being taken off the air.
Brown was suspended for comments on a MASN-TV broadcast July 23, when he pointed out that the Orioles were 3-2 at Tampa Bay this season after winning only three games there between 2020-22.
For his part, Brown has since said on social media his relationship with the club had been “mischaracterized,” describing it as “wonderful.” He has since returned to the booth.
