Over the past year or two, quarterback Lamar Jackson was seemingly at odds with the management of the Baltimore Ravens, as he was demanding a huge new contract.
This offseason, with no progress made on that front, it looked like he had one foot out the door, but the Ravens eventually caved in and gave him a five-year contract worth $260 million.
Anytime a player gets a humongous contract like that, there will be inevitable speculation that he is calling the shots too much within the franchise.
But analyst Joy Taylor doesn’t think Jackson has too much power; in fact, she said a player at his position and of his caliber should have some cache in terms of being able to make decisions on the field for his team, via “Speak” on FS1.

Jackson may not be an elite quarterback, but he is a recent regular-season MVP who has unique talents and an exciting game.
Last season, in 12 games, he threw for 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding 764 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
In 2022, Baltimore had a lack of productive playmakers outside of Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, but this year, they have the services of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie wideout Zay Flowers.
They’re coming off a season in which, despite winning 10 games and making the playoffs, they ranked just 19th in passing touchdowns and 28th in passing yards.
A healthy and resurgent year from Jackson could result in the Ravens making some noise come playoff time.
