The Boston Celtics surprisingly shook things up this summer when they participated in a big three-way trade to land Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards.
In the process, they lost a lot of assets.
That had many fans wondering: Will Porzingis be worth it?
They were asking that even more when they realized that the big man is currently injured and his return date was in question.
But Chris Haynes is reporting that Porzingis will go through four-to-six weeks of rehabilitation for plantar fasciitis and is then expected to be ready for the start of Boston’s training camp after that.

This means that Boston fans can breathe a sigh of relief, at least for now.
The upside of acquiring Porzingis is apparent: he is a tall and talented player who can run the team’s frontcourt, chip away at the glass, and score as well.
But the downside is apparent too: Porzingis has had his fair share of injuries.
The Celtics already have enough problems with that.
Both Al Horford and Robert Williams III, the team’s other two big men, have also been injured numerous times.
So while Porzingis can certainly add a lot, he does bring a risk with him.
The Celtics traded away multiple players in order to land the Latvian star, including Marcus Smart.
Smart, a former Defensive Player of the Year, had been a part of the team’s culture, chemistry, and success for years.
If Porzingis doesn’t pan out as the front office hopes, fans of the team will regret that decision and fondly remember the days when they had only two big men who were injury-prone.
