LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has been playing NBA basketball for a very long time now.

The historic star is entering his 21st year in the league and is still doing incredibly well for his age.

Just last year, he averaged 28.9 points a game.

Because of his consistency, his rating in the NBA 2K games remains high.

For NBA 2K24, James scored a 96 rating.

Ronnie 2K, one of the masterminds behind the game, explained why.

Speaking to Joey Mistretta, he said that James has the “longest sample size” and that “he’s had very few injuries, at least extended ones, so it is kind of hard to change his rating because you sort of know who he is.”

He added: “We are sort of expecting him to be what he has been in year 21.”

This explanation makes a lot of sense.

Some people were surprised to see James score such a high rating, even 21 years into his NBA career.

But the point is valid: James has stayed remarkably consistent even as he has gotten older.

He is now doing things on the court that no one his age ever has and that counts for a lot.

While his team has seen its fair share of ups and down, and James has experienced more injuries lately, he is still a supremely consequential and impactful player.

In the grand scheme of things, an NBA 2K rating doesn’t truly mean anything but it’s a very good indicator of how a player is perceived by the media and fans.

At this point in his career, James’ high rating shows that he is still one of the best players in the NBA and is incredibly well-regarded by everyone.
