The Denver Broncos are entering the 2023 season under a new regime.

Out goes Nathaniel Hackett after one season and in comes longtime NFL coach Sean Payton.

Payton comes in with a long of issues that need to be fixed.

It will be his job to fix the offense and most importantly quarterback Russell Wilson.

Payton knows that repetition will be the best thing for his new offense.

This is why he wants the starters to get work in the preseason.

In their first preseason game on Friday, the Broncos starters played four series.

According to Mike Klis, Payton said he wanted the offense to score and “leave a good taste in our mouths.”

In the game, Wilson went 7/13 for 93 yards and one touchdown.

It took until the fourth and final drive for the starters to score points.

Wilson threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy for the first score of the game.

To put it nicely, Wilson was abysmal last season.

He looked like a completely different player than we were used to seeing in Seattle.

But the hope is that Payton can get the best out of him this season.

For the Broncos, anything short of a postseason berth will be a disappointment.

There is plenty of pressure on Payton and Wilson to figure this offense out.

Playing in the AFC West will be no easy task.

Each of the four teams in that division could make the playoffs.

It will be interesting to see how the Payton regime can turn around the fortune of this franchise.
