The NFL’s preseason is officially here.
For fans, it’s a sign the regular season is just around the corner, a long-awaited return.
There have been three preseason games thus far, one of which was between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans.
This game provided many highlights, showcasing players who are fighting for roster spots.
Among the highlights was the stellar play of Malik Cunningham, who played two roles in this contest.
As the NFL’s official page highlights, Cunningham played the first half of the game at wide receiver, and the second half at quarterback.
Played WR in the first half. QB in the second half.

Cunningham spent his collegiate career at the University of Louisville, establishing himself as a dual-threat.
Due to a downturn in production during his senior year, Cunningham went undrafted, where he was later picked up by the Patriots.
While it was just a preseason game, Cunningham made sure to make the most of the playing time he received.
He finished the game with 19 passing yards, 34 rushing yards, and a rushing touchdown.
His style of play is similar to many current NFL quarterbacks, including Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Fields.
Cunningham’s size and speed have been noted, and he is an explosive athlete in whatever position he’s tasked with.
However, he faces an uphill battle to get significant playing time in the NFL.
Can Cunningham do enough in the preseason for the Patriots to carve out a role for him in their offense?
