Coming into last season, not many people felt the Seattle Seahawks would make the playoffs.

The team had just traded away future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, yet they refused to say they were rebuilding.

Instead, the Seahawks won six of their first nine games and ended up making an appearance in the postseason, and the main reason why was quarterback Geno Smith.

This season, analyst Jordan Schultz feels Seattle’s offense will be even better than it was in 2022.

Until 2022, Smith was regarded as nothing more than a decent backup quarterback.

He was a full-time starter in his first two seasons for the New York Jets, but he played poorly and threw more interceptions than touchdown passes.

After that, injuries and continued poor play resulted in him bouncing around the league until he found himself as Wilson’s backup in Seattle in 2019.

Last season, he had the campaign of his life, throwing for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns while leading the NFL in completion percentage and winning the Comeback Player of the Year award.

Smith has greatly raised the bar for himself as a result, and now his task is to equal or even exceed what he did in 2022.

Seattle has a nice wide receiver duo in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the No. 20 pick in April’s draft, is said to have plenty of potential.

In a relatively shallow NFC, perhaps the opening is there for the Seahawks to make the playoffs once again this winter.
