Liverpool Consider Shock Dewsbury-Hall Move – World in Sport

Updated 4 Aug 2023 2:46 pm:

Liverpool are considering a move for Leicester City Midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, according to reports.

Liverpool has long been negotiating for Southampton Star Romeo Lavia but has seen 2 bids rejected thus far, a third bid had been expected over the coming days. However, talks would appear to be at an impasse, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Dewsbury-Hall was one of the very few positives in an ultimately disappointing season for Leicester City, with the former Premier League Champions stay in the division coming to an end. The 24-year-old had 32 outings which saw a return of 2 goals and 2 assists.

Brendan Rodgers was a big fan of the Englishman as demonstrated when talking to, BBC Sport “He is a wonderful demonstration of someone who works very hard, he has proved that if you work hard, the opportunities come your way.

“It is a real joy as a coach and a manager to see a young player come through the system here over many years and then score his first goal at his home stadium in front of his home supporters that he has dreamt of doing all his life.

“What’s very important for him is to keep proving his point and he needs to find consistency. He has certainly done that since he has come into the team and he’s been a revelation for us.

“He is a young man that is very determined. He has great human qualities as well. His humbleness, his vision of where he wants to go is very clear and he knows that is just about work. It is staying calm, staying focused, and improving yourself every game.

“You don’t play one good game and then drop off and that is the difference with the very best players. They are ready for the next game and ready to put the same energy and intensity into the performance, rather than looking back at how good they were in the last game.”

High praise indeed, words that would be music to the ears of Jurgen Klopp, with the Liverpool manager wanting to act on his pressing need to recruit in that area of the pitch.

It could well have been a surprise to many this morning when Jacque Talbot of Football Transfers tweeted: “Hear Liverpool are looking at Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall over a possible move.”

Leicester City has seen a significant rate of departure already this summer, with Dewsbury-Hall likely seen as a key component in returning to the top flight at the first time of asking. Whether Liverpool decide to test the club’s resolve by solidifying interest, remains to be seen.

Romeo Lavia remains as Liverpool’s primary target with Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri suggesting in an interview with UB “These will be crucial days for the transfer of Roméo Lavia to Liverpool. Personally, there has been an agreement for some time. Lavia waits for the green light to take his medical tests with the Reds. Liverpool will make a third and ultimate attempt to sign Lavia from Southampton.

“They want to seduce the Saints with 40 million euros + bonuses for the young Belgian. Lavia has a 5-year contract at Anfield.”

With the Premier League campaign starting in a little over a week, these are pressing days ahead for Liverpool.
