Two years after winning the gold medal at the Olympic games in Toyko, Team USA is preparing to represent the Stars and Stripes at the FIBA World Cup later this summer.

The squad has been getting ready in part by scrimmaging against the USA Select Team, which is made up of some of the NBA‘s more promising young players.

Team USA has lost two consecutive 10-minute scrimmages to the Select Team, which may mean they need to sharpen their beaks a little more before the FIBA World Cup begins.

This fan feels that perhaps Erik Spoelstra should’ve been selected as head coach instead of Steve Kerr.

This fan isn’t impressed by the roster Team USA has to go to battle with.

Team USA isn’t quite as star-studded as it was in 2021, when it featured the likes of Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, and Devin Booker.

This time around, it will be a younger team that will take the floor for the United States, but as usual, they’re expected to take home the grand prize.

Arguably their best player this year is Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who averaged 24.6 points a game during the 2022-23 season while making his first All-Star team.

He is one of the more explosive players in basketball, and that explosiveness allowed him to have a 44-point outburst in January.

Another gifted player on the roster is Brandon Ingram, but this fan feels he didn’t deserve to be on the team.

On the other hand, this fan offered a little bit of perspective.

In 1992, the Dream Team lost a scrimmage to a collection of college players, yet they still won the Olympic gold medal with extreme ease.
