With the 2023 season having gone off the rails, the New York Mets have begun the process of selling just days prior to the trade deadline.
Closer David Robertson was shipped off to the Miami Marlins late on Thursday night.
Given the talent on the Mets roster, this news came with disappointment and frustration.
Even several Mets players have expressed their frustration with the situation.
Right-hander Max Scherzer is one of them.
After the Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Friday night, Scherzer revealed that he plans to speak with the front office in the coming days about the direction the club is headed in.
SNY, the TV home of the Mets, posted the video of Scherzer’s interview on Twitter.
Max Scherzer when asked if there’s time for a run to still be made:
“Probably got to have a conversation with the front office. You traded our closer away. A bunch of people are going to have to have conversations with the front office” pic.twitter.com/KD2uPKhhEl

Scherzer was asked about if he believed the Mets still had time to make a run and get back into postseason contention.
Visibly frustrated, Scherzer revealed his plans to speak with the front office.
The veteran right-hander mentioned the trade of Robertson and expressed frustration over the situation, while also revealing that several players are planning to speak with General Manager Billy Eppler in the coming days.
Scherzer joined the Mets on a three-year, $130 million deal back in 2021.
He signed in New York with the expectation to win.
New York put together a strong roster heading into 2023, but the wheels have fallen off for the Mets, who are five games below the .500 mark.
The Mets won 101 games last year and have failed to follow up on their success from the 2022 season.
