The Boston Red Sox have been an interesting team this season.
After winning just 78 games in 2022, they have emerged as a surprise contender.
The Red Sox sit in fourth place in a crowded AL East, but are just 1.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final Wild Card spot.
The trade deadline should be an interesting one for the Sox, who could potentially find themselves in a position to buy rather than sell.
On Wednesday, manager Alex Cora stopped by MLB Network to discuss the outlook for the rest of the season and what he has seen so far from his team.
“We’ve got a bunch of grinders.”

Cora acknowledged that the season has been full of ups and downs for the Red Sox, but that he’s proud of his team for staying together and all pulling on the same rope in hopes of achieving one goal, to win a World Series.
Cora then praised his team, referring to them as “a bunch of grinders.”
He even said that the vibes were much better this year than they were in 2022.
The Red Sox skipper said that he’s been proud of the way the Red Sox have gone about their business in terms of being able to move on from last year.
He believes that several of the team’s additions from the outside have helped them build a better culture in the clubhouse.
Cora expressed optimism and hope that the team he has in place could potentially chase down a spot in the postseason.
