Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s NFL career may be over, but it looks like he still has some game.
He hasn’t played in an NFL game since the 2016 season, but he has been angling for a return to the league recently, and he has held a few workouts for teams over the last few years.
Kaepernick now appears in a new ad for Nike, where he throws passes to a number of current NFL stars and receives compliments for his passing ability.

Kaepernick is 35 years of age, so perhaps the window has shut or is almost shut on him returning to the NFL, but he was once one of the better QBs in the game.
A second-round draft pick in 2011, he started his career as a backup to Alex Smith, but when Smith suffered a concussion in 2012, he became San Francisco’s starter, and he remained their starter even after Smith was cleared to return.
Kaepernick took the 49ers all the way to the Super Bowl that season, where despite a bad start, they battled the Baltimore Ravens down to the wire and lost by just three points.
He continued to start under center for San Francisco for the next four seasons, but what had been an elite team started to come apart at the seams in 2014 with the departure of several key players and head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Since then, Kaepernick has become more well-known for his stance on race relations after he started taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to games, and although it has made him a polarizing figure, many have applauded him for taking a stand on such an important social issue.
