Last season, the Detroit Lions went from a struggling franchise to a team with a potentially bright future ahead, with head coach Dan Campbell calling the shots and winning over his players.
With the Green Bay Packers recently trading superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, many view the NFC North division as wide open, but it could be a two-team race with the Lions and Minnesota Vikings going toe-to-toe to win the division title.
As a result of the Lions making so much progress last year and adding some talented players along the way, with quarterback Jared Goff resurrecting his career in Detroit, the franchise is on the upswing and getting a lot of hype ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
However, Campbell and Goff aren’t taking the bait, as they have both been dismissive of the hype the team is getting, as the head coach believes the team has to earn the hype and the quarterback is downplaying what the team has accomplished thus far via Eric Woodyard of ESPN.
#Lions’ Jared Goff: That so-called ‘hype train,’ I think it’s funny to me that like you go 9-8, you don’t make the playoffs and now you’re all of a sudden the favorite. Of course, we’ve got good players, we’ve got good coaches, we’ve got a good team, but we haven’t done anything. https://t.co/S5RwGId5vi

Even though Campbell and Goff are trying to downplay the hype surrounding this young team heading into the 2023 campaign, the Lions are a promising team that can make some noise during the upcoming season as they’re solid on both sides of the ball on paper.
It’ll be interesting to see if Detroit can live up to the hype or at least make the NFL playoffs next season, with the NFC being the much weaker conference in comparison to the AFC.
