Shohei Ohtani delivered an epic game-tying home run against the New York Yankees Monday, and he had one celebrity at Angel Stadium going B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
With the Los Angeles Angels down 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the two-way star hit a two-run moonshot off Michael King to center field for his 35th home run of the season and to tie the game and send Angel Stadium in a frenzy.
But that wasn’t all; Ohtani had an epic bat flip while watching the ball fly and powerful celebration, all while Orange County native Gwen Stefani was in the stands to watch. The “No Doubt” singer celebrated watching the game tying home run in a moment Angels fans could appreciate.
Of course, the Angels social media team said the home run was a “No doubter.”
Stefani posted all the fun she was having on her Instagram story, including some of her songs being played throughout the game. It wouldn’t be the only time the Angels paid tribute to Stefani either, as when they completed the comeback with a walk-off single from pinch hitter Michael Stefanic in the 10th inning, the Angels said “A few times we’ve been around that track,” referring to her hit song “Hollaback girl.”
It only made sense for the Angels to pull off the come-from-behind win in front of the Orange County queen.
