It seems like the Detroit Pistons have been in perpetual rebuilding mode for over a decade, and they have made the playoffs just twice in the last 14 seasons.

But there may be a glimmer of hope for them, as they have a few young and promising prospects they’re looking to develop.

One of them, of course, is Cade Cunningham, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft who garnered some comparisons to LeBron James but has yet to bust out.

Detroit also has an incoming rookie named Ausar Thompson who is thought to have potential, yet another rookie stole the show at NBA Summer League on Sunday when Marcus Sasser exploded for 40 points in their win over the Indiana Pacers.

Fans are amazed that the Pistons have two promising prospects this coming season in Thompson and Sasser.

The Memphis Grizzlies took Sasser with the No. 25 pick in this year’s draft, and they traded him to the Pistons on draft day.

A 6-foot-2 combo guard, he averaged 13.6 points and 1.3 steals a game in his four seasons at the University of Houston, and he put up 16.8 points while shooting 38.4 percent from 3-point range last season.

He was named a consensus first-team All-American while capturing the ACC Player of the Year award during the 2022-23 campaign.

The Pistons are in a position where they must stock up on potential-laden draft picks and young prospects, which would give them assets they could possibly use in the future for a trade that would take them to the next level.
