The San Antonio Spurs have decided to shut down No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama for the remainder of the NBA 2K Summer League.

People got a chance to get a glimpse of the whole Wembanyama experience, watching him struggling mightily in his first game and then being in awe after he bounced back in dominant fashion in the second matchup.

Wembanyama’s skill set is mesmerizing, and his potential is unlimited, but it might take a while before we actually get to see how he’ll turn out.

However, it seems like former NBA player Kenny Smith has seen enough already, as he went as far as to predict that he’ll be the league’s MVP by his fourth season in the league.

Notably, there’s absolutely no doubt that Wembanyama has the potential to be a perennial MVP candidate, and there’s no reason to think that prediction won’t come true.

Then again, maybe it would be wise to put the brakes on and take the hot takes down a notch, as most people seem to be putting some irrealistic expectations on his shoulders.

Wembanyama has had to deal with all this frenzy, attention, and crazy projections for quite a while now, and he’s done an outstanding job of shutting down all the outside noise, which is also something the Spurs are very good at.

Still, we can’t help but feel like there’s just no way he’s going to be able to live up to the expectations after all that’s been said of him recently.
