McDonald’s is discontinuing its McCafé bakery lineup less than three years after it debuted.
The fast food chain confirmed the decision in a statement to USA TODAY Tuesday.
“We’re always listening to our fans and adjusting our menu based on what they crave,” the company said in the statement.
“Starting this month, we’ll be phasing out our McCafé Bakery line-up, including the apple fritter, blueberry muffin and cinnamon roll.”
McDonald’s rolled out the bakery lineup in October 2020, marking the first time in eight years the company added bakery items to the chain’s core menu.
“We know our customers deserve a break now more than ever, and are excited to give them another reason to visit their favorite breakfast destination by offering delicious flavors they crave, any time of the day,” said Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s USA vice president, brand and menu strategy, to USA TODAY in 2020.

While the McCafé bakery items will begin to get phased out this month, McDonald’s will keep chocolate chip cookies, baked apple pie and frozen desserts on the menu.
