A new era has begun for the Carolina Panthers, as Bryce Young, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, will start at quarterback for them, and he could end up being special.
He will have some reliable playmakers around him right away, including wide receivers DJ Chark and Adam Thielen and running back Miles Sanders.
Given the struggles the Panthers have had over the years, it’s easy to forget they have reached the Super Bowl twice, but according to James Palmer, they will honor the two men arguably most responsible for their first trip to the big game: Muhsin Muhammad and Julius Peppers.
The team will do so at halftime of Week 8’s contest versus the Houston Texans.

Muhammad, nicknamed “The Moose,” wasn’t the most prolific wide receiver around, but he helped put Carolina on the map after they became an expansion franchise by making the Pro Bowl in 1999.
Four seasons later, he helped them reach the Super Bowl for the first time, where they went down to the wire versus Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, only to lose on a last-second Adam Vinatieri field goal.
In that contest, Muhammad did his best to give his team a shot at the Vince Lombardi Trophy with 140 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The following season, his 1,405 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, both of which led all wideouts, earned him All-Pro First-Team honors.
Peppers, meanwhile, was an outstanding pass rusher who played 17 NFL seasons, 10 of them coming with the Panthers, and he made nine Pro Bowls while being named to the All-Pro First-Team three times.
