Four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook remains without a team after the Minnesota Vikings parted ways with the talented running back a few weeks ago, and many are starting to wonder why he’s gone unsigned while being one of the best players in the NFL at his position.
Even before the Vikings released Cook, the rumors were swirling about the veteran back ending up with the Miami Dolphins, who could use an upgrade in the backfield as they attempt to contend for a Super Bowl title in 2023.
The consensus was that the moment Cook got released, he wouldn’t be without a job for long with the Dolphins waiting to swoop him up, but that hasn’t been the case, and now the reason for that reluctance to get a deal done may have been revealed.
According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Cook isn’t willing to accept what the Dolphins are currently offering him regarding a contract via Dov Kleiman of Bro Bible.
Update: Dalvin Cook’s is ‘Not willing to accept’ the current contract offer from the #Dolphins, per @JeffDarlington
The Dolphins still have a contract offer on the table for Cook but he’s hesitant to commit to their current proposal.

Unfortunately for Cook, even top-tier running backs in the league aren’t getting paid what they are asking for, which has led to many contract talks being stalled with the player feeling unappreciated.
Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs are perfect examples of this as they were given franchise tags by the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders, and both players decided not to sign those tags, which would pay them over $10 million for next season.
It is uncertain what Cook is looking for in contract talks, but he’s likely hoping for some long-term securing, much like Barkley and Jacobs, and only time will tell if any of these backs will get more than a one-year commitment at this point.
