Canada’s Bianca Andreescu falls to Ons Jabeur in third round at Wimbledon

[ad_1]

Canada’s Bianca Andreescu was eliminated from Wimbledon on Saturday after losing to Ons Jabeur of Tunisia during third-round action.

The sixth-seeded Jabeur, who finished runner-up at Wimbledon last year, defeated Andreescu 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to advance.

The match was suspended due to rain during the third set with Andreescu leading 3-2. Play resumed after a roughly 50-minute delay and with the centre court roof closed, Jabeur bounced back to beat the Mississauga, Ont., native.

It was the third match in as many days for Andreescu as rain had also delayed her start to the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.

The 2019 U.S. Open champion beat Anna Bondar 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 on Thursday in the first round and Anhelina Kalinina 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7) on Friday in the second round.
