Andy Dalton is a 12-year NFL veteran and spent the majority of his career as the Cincinnati Bengals’ starter.

However, after the organization moved on to Joe Burrow, Dalton bounced around the league, spending time with the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints.

In free agency this year, Dalton signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers and is now slated to back up Bryce Young.

Despite his current role as a backup, Dalton has recently claimed his playing abilities.

“I don’t think there are 32 guys better than me, Dalton said, according to Mac Engel and Pro Football Talk, via Dov Kleiman.

Dalton went on to say, “As soon as I don’t think I’m one of the best 32, or a little lower, I’ll be watching football on TV.”

He has started 162 career games, and this role as a backup is relatively foreign to Dalton.

After he made these comments, many fans across the league reacted with varying opinions.

Judging by the above Tweets, it appears that fans are torn about Dalton and his playing ability.

One fan related Dalton to Baker Mayfield, and he believes that if Mayfield has a job, Dalton should as well.

Two other fans believed that Dalton’s play for the Saints last season was more than adequate to be a long-term starter moving forward.

However, other fans believe that Dalton should quit while he is ahead.

They don’t think that Dalton is good enough to gain a starting job over younger, faster, and more athletic quarterbacks.
