After being the laughingstock of the NBA for nearly two decades, the Sacramento Kings were finally able to put together a solid season during the 2022-23 campaign, locking up the third seed in the Western Conference and ending the longest playoff drought in the NBA.
With the Kings knowing they have a talented roster that might be able to compete for quite some time, Sacramento heads into this offseason with hopes of keeping their roster intact while adding a few pieces here and there.
On Wednesday, the Kings made a move to address their roster for next season, with the team picking up the option on Kessler Edwards, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Sacramento Kings are picking up Kessler Edwards’ $1.9 million team option for the 2023-2024 season, sources tell ESPN.

Although he didn’t play a substantial role on the team last season, head coach Mike Brown and company still see some promise in the Pepperdine product and are willing to pay the $1.9 million to keep him moving forward.
The real question from here on out is whether the Kings will make a big splash in NBA free agency, as the team will have ample cap space to make a significant addition or two to the team.
The most recent rumors have the Kings as a potential suitor for veteran forward Draymond Green if the four-time NBA champion isn’t sold on returning to the Golden State Warriors or if the team plans to give him a lowball offer in free agency.
Adding Green would be a solid addition to the team and might be enough to get it where it wants to be to contend with the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets in the West.
