Colorado will send the 37th overall pick in the draft which they originally acquired in the deal that sent Alex Newhook to the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.
Colton had 16 goals and 32 points in 81 games this season for the Lightning. He also had four points in six games during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“Ross is a hard-working, two-way center with a championship pedigree,” said Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland. “He has physicality to his game, is ultra-competitive and his versatility will make him a valuable addition to our lineup in a lot of ways.”
The 26-year-old was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He is a pending restricted free agent and is coming off a two-year contract that carried a $1.125 million cap hit.
