If you are young Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson, you are probably more likely to get confused with an NHL player than you are an ageing hockey executive.
And if you take your 34-year-old self for a walk around the streets of Nashville, where the NHL Draft is taking place on Wednesday evening, while rocking a salmon-coloured t-shirt and your ballcap on backwards, you can probably pass yourself off as a fan when a local hockey website sticks a microphone in your face and asks how much you know about the game.
That is allegedly what occurred when Davidson (aka “Kyle from Chicago”) was stopped on the street and queried by an unsuspecting reporter from Penalty Box Radio.

To be fair, NHL GMs aren’t the most recognizable types, outside of perhaps Lou Lamoriello of the Islanders, and only because he’s been around since helmets were not mandatory.
Kyle from Chicago definitely had fun with the experience, rating himself low on his hockey knowledge (a 4 out of 10), adding “Fan of the sport. I dunno, some people say I don’t know that much.” And he had no suggestions for improving the game (“I don’t know, I think it’s pretty awesome.”)
But the best part of the interview was when he was asked if he thought the league had rigged the draft lottery in favour of Chicago, deadpanned “no,” and then looked straight at the camera and confirmed he was “pretty confident” about that fact.
Davidson will be very recognizable on Wednesday night when he steps to the microphone at Bridgestone Arena and uses the No. 1 pick Chicago won in the draft lottery to make the Blackhawks’ selection.
