After a disappointing end to the 2022-23 NBA season, with the second-seed Memphis Grizzlies getting beaten by the seventh-seed Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs, the team will need to pick up the pieces and figure out how to bounce back with a vengeance next season.
Unfortunately, things have gotten off to a bad start for the Grizzlies, with superstar guard Ja Morant getting in trouble off the court again, resulting in a 25-game suspension to start the 2022-23 campaign.
Despite the Grizzlies losing their face of the franchise to start next season, the team did announce some good news this week, with Memphis exercising its option on forward/center Xavier Tillman Sr.

Even though Tillman isn’t a big-name player in the league and is not considered to be among the elite at his position, he is a solid player and seems to be improving with every passing season.
Although Steven Adams was sorely missed in the playoffs against the Lakers, Tillman stepped up, proved his worth to the team, and may have done enough in the postseason to have this option exercised by the team, paving the way for a future in Memphis.
In 61 games during the regular season, Tillman averaged 7.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 61.4% from the floor.
Tillman may not be the game-changer in the paint that Adams can be, but he is a solid role player that can help this team get back to form as one of the best squads in the Western Conference.
