Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs are set to start a fruitful partnership after the five-time NBA champions selected him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
The Frenchman is expected to mark an era with the Spurs.
The Spurs finally got their hands on Wembanyama on Thursday, and he couldn’t be happier about it.
Upon his arrival to the city, the young player was asked about his earliest memories of the team, with Wembanyama admitting that the Spurs are the ‘most important franchise for French players.’

Boasting players like Tony Parker and Boris Diaw, the Spurs became a famous franchise around the world.
They used to have plenty of international players on the roster, reaching new fans with their style of play.
Now, they’re set to do the same with Wembanyama as their cornerstone.
The hype around him is through the roof, but he has said that he is not feeling any pressure about that.
The next step for him is playing for the team in the upcoming Las Vegas Summer League.
Wembanyama comes from winning several individual awards in the LNB Pro A, including the MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, the scoring championship, and the best shot-blocker title while being named to the LNB top five players team.
In 32 games played, he averaged 21.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 2.4 assists in 32.1 minutes.
Wembanyama is set to make a big impact on the league, and the Spurs could be a contending team for many years to come.
