Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics worked overtime last night to get a major deal done, sending Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies to acquire Kristaps Porzingis.

The deal originally featured the Los Angeles Clippers instead of the Grizzlies, and Malcolm Brodgon was the one supposed to be on the move.

However, some concerns about Brogdon’s health eventually killed the deal, forcing the Celtics’ hand to part ways with their former Defensive Player of the Year.

Moreover, Brian Robb of MassLive (via NBACentral) reports that the Celtics are “far from done” making moves right now.

Notably, they’re going to have a tough time parting ways with Brogdon, and these moves point out that they’re looking forward to building around Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, so those two are obviously off the table.

There’s now an odd man out in their big man rotation, so chances are that they could look to part ways with Robert Williams III, and Payton Pritchard’s future with the team was already in question.

They also have some picks to play and trade with, and they could be in the mix for an upgrade at the PG position now that Brogdon is likely not going to play in the foreseeable future.

The Celtics have been quite close to finally winning another NBA championship, but they always seem to fall short.

They’ve now added a versatile scoring big who can swat some shots and spread the floor with his shooting, but it seems like they’re far from satisfied.
