The New York Giants have a big problem on their hands right now.
Saquon Barkley is nowhere to be found, and they won’t be able to get a hold of him unless they make him a suitable contract offer.
That seems unlikely at this point, as the Giants have reportedly pulled off their initial offer and will only consider playing him under the franchise tag.
That’s why former NFL player Plaxico Burress believes Barkley won’t show up if he’s not signed by July 17, and he fully expects him to hold out.
“If the Giants don’t sign Saquon Barkley by July 17th, you will not see him until the first game of the season.”

Barkley has refused to play under the franchise tag, which would make him roughly over $10 million.
Burress believes he’s one of the best offensive players in the game when healthy, and he predicts the Giants won’t stand a chance to move the chains if he’s not on the field.
Brian Daboll did a great job of revamping their offense in his first year in charge of the team, but he had a fully-healthy Saquon to ride with and put the ball on his hands more often than not.
Barkley has every right to feel insulted and not want to play under the tag, which is always the least favorable scenario for any player.
But on the other hand, he openly admitted that he had hurt his market with all the injuries, so he should also understand why the Giants have been hesitant to sign him to the big contract he wants, especially after watching how expendable RBs have been lately.
