According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the 2019 NBA champion is expected to demand $30-plus million annually in his next deal.
“Toronto Raptors free agent guard Fred VanVleet is expected to command $30-plus million annually, according to NBA executives who spoke with HoopsHype.”
VanVleet went from being undrafted to becoming one of the best players in Raptors history.
He became an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2022.
Playing in 69 games for the Raptors, VanVleet averaged 19.3 points, 7.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds.
He wasn’t unable to help his team make it to the playoffs last season and now is set to become a free agent.
Scotto adds that the Raptors are still in the conversation to sign VanVleet in free agency.
It remains to be seen if the Raptors or any other team in the league gives him a $30+ million deal.
The Spurs could be a great option for him to team up with Victor Wembanyama after the 2023 NBA Draft.
The Suns reportedly see him as a good option to replace or play alongside Chris Paul.
Some other teams reportedly interested in him are the Rockets, Lakers, and Magic.
