Cleveland fans had to wait for decades before witnessing another title in a major tournament, but it was worth the wait, as they had one of the most iconic in NBA history.
ESPN Cleveland took to Twitter to remind everyone of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ legendary run, which ended seven years ago on this day.
Today marks the seventh anniversary of that incredible 2015-16 NBA championship, which they won after falling into a 3-1 hole in the NBA Finals.

Tyronn Lue’s team was able to come back against a Golden State Warriors team that had just set a mark for the most wins in the regular season (73), even topping the legendary 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.
No team in NBA history had been able to come back from such a deficit.
And while some might argue that the Cavs had plenty of things going their way in that series — including Draymond Green’s suspension — this is still one of the most remarkable and impressive accomplishments in the history of this league.
The Cavs got back at the very same team that had beaten them in the NBA Finals the year prior, all while LeBron fulfilled his promise of giving his hometown team at least one championship.
Some believe that title cemented James’ status as the greatest player of all time, and it also may have changed the course of NBA history, as the Warriors later brought in Kevin Durant in to win two more championships.
This was an iconic moment in NBA history and one that even non-LeBron fans have to tip their hats off to.
