The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2023 NBA offseason with plenty of questions to answer.

They assumed that LeBron James would be part of next season, but after the King hinted at a potential retirement, the alarms went off within the Lakers organization.

Besides the possibility of retiring, James could leave the team and try his luck in a different place.

Earlier this week, reports claimed that Kyrie Irving contacted James to try to lure him away from Los Angeles.

This situation stirred the pot around the league, but according to Gilbert Arenas, there’s nothing to worry about it.

The former player is confident that James won’t leave the Lakers to play for the Mavericks.

‘He’s a Laker. His kid goes to USC, his other son just decided to go to Campbell Hall, so he has no plans on leaving Los Angeles, especially for no Dallas Mavericks.” Arenas said.

Since Kyrie Irving became disgruntled in Brooklyn last year, the Lakers have been considered a potential landing spot for him.

LeBron James has stated his interest in reuniting with Irving, whom he won the 2016 NBA championship with.

Now, the tables have turned and Irving is the one trying to recruit James.

As Arenas stated, this sounds more like Irving is trying to create something where there’s nothing.

James most likely isn’t leaving Los Angeles unless his son Bronny James gets drafted by a different team next year.

Irving’s future is still up in the air, as the Mavericks, the Lakers, and even the Phoenix Suns are mentioned among his possible destinations.
