The Minnesota Timberwolves had a fairly talented and promising young team this season, but for the second year in a row, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
A report via Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report on Friday indicated that perhaps the Timberwolves will make a bold move by trading star center Karl-Anthony Towns in the next few weeks.

Fans are intrigued and puzzled, to say the least.
This fan seems to question the logic of keeping Towns over fellow Minnesota big man Rudy Gobert.
KAT over Gobert? Interesting 🤔 something is brewing… KAT to Portland?

I could see the Warriors making a move for him

Making the Rudy Gobert / Draft pick trade debacle even worse …

Townes has a lot more in him. With the right coach and circumstances, it would be good for him.

They have to make some type of move this summer. The window is closing to recoup those picks

The Timberwolves traded a lot to get Gobert last summer, jettisoning four serviceable complementary players and five future first-round draft picks.
Although Gobert is a very good rebounder and shot blocker, he’s a very awkward fit with Towns offensively, and many feel it was an extremely unwise trade for Minnesota, especially given what they gave up.
Towns is a fairly productive big man who averaged 20.8 points on 49.5 percent shooting, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists a game this season, but there is a feeling that perhaps he’s not a winning player.
Trading him could mean practically giving another team the missing piece to a championship puzzle.
On the other hand, it could allow Minnesota to recoup some of the depth and trade capital it gave up to obtain Gobert, which could help them improve in the long run.
