Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom signed a $185 million contract in the offseason to pitch in the Lone Star state for the next five years.

Before that, however, he was a part of the New York Mets staff from 2014 to 2022.

Last year, he was managed by Buck Showalter, the current Mets skipper.

Showalter got to know deGrom’s bulldog mentality when the latter encountered several injury-related obstacles last year, most notably a stress fracture in his right scapula.

He knows he will do everything in his power to come back strong from his latest elbow injury.

On Tuesday, Rangers GM Chris Young announced deGrom will undergo Tommy John surgery, which will knock him out of action until 2025.

Showalter weighed in on his former pitcher.

He had nothing but positive things to say about his former ace.

Showalter has faith in deGrom to make a full recovery and be the pitcher we are all used to watching upon returning.

Fans have a similar sentiment, too.

Baseball is definitely better and more fun when he is healthy and dominating.

The two-time Cy Young award winner is one of the most impressive pitchers baseball has seen in the last 10 years.

It’s not a coincidence that he has a 2.53 career ERA.

When it comes to run prevention, raw stuff, fastball velocity, and command, deGrom has no peers.

Sadly, he has missed many starts since 2021 with several health-related issues.

Hopefully he can have a smooth rehab process and rejoin the exciting Rangers project in 2025 as their ace.
