Did Yankees do enough in offseason to finally return to World Series?

Aaron Judge’s spectacular running catch on Saturday sent him to the 10-day injured list three days later, the New York Yankees announced. It also sent the Los Angeles Dodgers scrambling to fix the fence in right field that Judge barreled through. Team executive Stan Kasten told The Athletic that the Dodgers will strengthen the chain-link fence and add extra padding on the concrete portion where Judge injured his big toe.
Kasten said he initially believed Judge went through the fence door in the visitors bullpen. However, once he walked on the field to see the damage, he realized that the door doesn’t open in that direction. Extra padding will be added to the visitors and the home bullpen to eliminate any future injuries.

“He actually broke through where some of the panels were joined, the barrier between the two connecting panels,” Kasten told The Athletic. “Which is unbelievable. But we’re going to strengthen that and add a strip of padding on the bottom as well.”
The play occurred in the bottom of the eighth inning when Dodgers outfielder J.D. Martinez hit a ball toward right field. A fast traveling ball that seemed like an extra base hit left Judge storming to make the catch. He grabbed the ball with his left glove then ran through the fence and stubbed his right toe on the bottom of the bullpen fence. With Max Muncy on first, the play kept the Dodgers from advancing him into scoring position, but at the cost of an injury to Judge.
The Yankees placed their star outfielder on the injured list on Tuesday with a right big toe injury. Manager Aaron Boone said there is no fracture and no official timetable for Judge’s return to the lineup. Judge’s official diagnosis is a contusion and ligament sprain and he received a platelet rich plasma injection. This is the 2022 AL MVP’s second stint on the IL this season.
